Monroe Public Schools Community Education

with Amy Pace

This class is for both beginners and experienced genealogists. Beginners will start constructing their family tree with guidance. Experienced genealogists will have time and a place to continue working on their family tree and get the support needed to break down brick walls. The majority of class time will be spent working on the computers; however, time will be set aside to discuss the following topics: getting started, websites and resources, research techniques and tips, understanding, interpreting and transcribing vital records and other documents, maps, timelines and historical context, military, immigration and naturalization records, citations and documentation, the fan club, DNA, photo identification and preservation. Bring a notebook, binder and tabbed dividers to keep handouts organized. Come join the fun and learn more about your family. Bring a lab fee of $5 to be paid to the instructor.
